We have been making wooden runabouts captured in fiberglass for over 30 years. most of our boats are still on the water! this means no more re-planking, no more caulking, no more varnishing. keep the look of a wood grained custom built runabout for decades without ever having the need the strip, re-finish and restore.. It’s hard for any fiberglass boat to beat that classic look and feel of a varnished mahogany boat. but it’s hard for a wooden boat to be the multisport vehicle a modern fiberglass model can be. wood has come a long way, baby, but it’s still going to require more maintenance than fiberglass.. Technique is to simply fiberglass over the wood hull of the boat, essentially sealing out downside. on an old boat the wood in the boat is wet. because of the damp, rot has probably infected the wood even though the boat looks sound and is seaworthy. sealing the wood to fiberglass over wood or not. Rot repair in fiberglass boats - wood preservation, rot - similar to rot repair in fiberglass boats - wood preservation, rot just look at the second picture of a standard outboard powered boat. 2) dig out bad wood with a hook-like tool (i.e. a caulker's reefing iron or a sharpened and bent file. .. Our boats have all the antique character and timeless beauty of the cherished mahogany boats of ‘yesteryear’. we deliver ‘classic’ elegance and a vintage, genuine mahogany presentation. (we do not use 'cosmetic technology' or try to make fiberglass appear to look like wood.).
