The paddle boats were my favorite thing to do at byrd park (paddle boats only run at certain times). every once in a while, i play football with friends. byrd park is a great place to have a picnic or read a book.. The pedal boats are now open at byrd park: make it a family tradition and get out and take a pedal boat ride on byrd park’s fountain lake. it’s a richmond experience you don’t want to miss, and something many richmond adults remember from their own childhood and now want to share with their children.. I love this park. tennis courts, paddle boats, fitness trails, mountain bike trails, ponds, and nature to name a few things there. it is usually well maintained with ample parking.. Richmond, va. -- byrd park consists of three lakes: swan, shields and fountain. the last which is used for paddle boats. but visitors may reconsider heading out in the water and may avoid fountain.
